Samuel "Sam" Perkins

Sam has several years of experience in the public sector, working at various levels of government across the North State. This work sparked a passion for public engagement, capacity building, and understanding the complex relationship between government and the communities it serves.
Before joining Glenn County RCD as the Northern Sacramento Valley Coalition Coordinator, he served as a District Representative for State Senator Brian Dahle, supporting constituents in the Senator’s district with a focus on Butte, Glenn, Tehama, and Colusa counties. He built and strengthened relationships, helped residents access state services, and shared legislative and state-level updates with community partners.
Previously, Sam worked in disaster recovery for Butte County following the 2018 Camp Fire and 2020 North Complex Fire, where he developed an interest in emergency management and community building.
A longtime resident of Chico, Sam completed his K–12 education in Durham and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from California State University, Chico. While at Chico State, he was a student leader in the award-winning Model United Nations program, where he developed strong skills in public speaking and writing, earning recognition through multiple individual and team awards.
Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, friends and family, supporting Chelsea Football Club, going to the gym, playing on a championship winning coed kickball team, and traveling.
